Just returned from a very pleasant trip to Launceston, Tasmania.

Saturday, 14th, included a visit to the Rhododendron Gardens near Burnie and a small plant fair. My purchases were double green flowered Hellebores, a couple of pretty Fuchsias and a Tasmanian Celery Top pine.

On Sunday 15th, I visited historic Evandale and loved it. Close by was “Ericvale”, a garden and nursery above the South Esk River. Developed over 24 years by Tim and Julie Barbour, the garden and topiary nursery was a delightful experience. The site is not easy – open to harsh drying winds, but now sheltered with mature hedging. Fruit trees, massed Hydrangeas and formal plantings caught my attention.
